2020 – the year we will always remember (but wish to forget)

Hi friends – so long no blog – right?!?!

I took a looooong blog-break but I am back!  Lots has happened since the last time I posted so I will try to not overwhelm you all with a super long blog -  my plan is to give a high level summary of what all has happened and then to blog every few days or so with the more nitty gritty details about some stuff!

My last blog entry was about 10 months ago and there have definitely been some ups and downs during that time.

Cat Cafe = Jaimee's zen spot
August 2019:  loved cheering on the Pelotonia riders, had some super fun times Drag Racing with the Coes (I developed a need for speed and an addiction to fast cars!!), Nathan and I spent our anniversary in Calgary Canada - amazing food, super nice people, great experiences (visited a cat cafe😻, went on a ghost tour via motorcycle sidecar, and my need for speed was satisfied with a trip down the bob-sled track)

September 2019:  OSU Football games in the rain (B Deck benefits – no wet seats😊)

October 2019:  the Coes come to Cbus for a visit and trip to the Columbus Zoo, Halloween fun with Andrew and Jessica, Nathan and my dad start the EPIC bathroom remodel of 2019 (took more time than expected but soooo worth it)

November/December 2019:  lots of holiday celebrations with the family

Fun in the sun
January 2020: turned the big 40 (#40isthenew30), took an AWESOME trip to sunny Florida with the Coes, CT scans are clean (YAY!!)

February 2020: Minnie spent some time in the kitty ICU with some kidney issues (but she is now healthy and better than ever), I find out my Oncologist is leaving the OSU practice

March 2020: celebrated my mother’s birthday in style with her and my sister (not knowing this will be the last time I see them for months ), finally break down and shave my head (#COVIDhaircut), receive the devastating news that Woody has a terminal illness

Happy Mother's Day
April 2020:  COVID continues to change our lives, Nathan and I dedicate lots of quality time to Woody, I finally get some answers to why I am having abdominal pain after eating = CT scan shows a small bowel obstruction (SBO) – but we opt for modified diet to manage the SBO over surgery (COVID has really changed the face of medical care)

My bestest boy
May 2020:  Nathan and I make one of the toughest decisions and say our final goodbyes to Woodrow McMeowerson Bible (aka Woody, Baby Skillet, My Woody Love), I continue on my low fiber, mostly liquid diet but things just don’t seem to be improving

And that brings us to June of 2020.  Per the recommendation of a colorectal surgeon I end up having surgery on June 12th to correct the SBO.  While the surgery was super successful the surgeon sees some suspicious areas so a sample is taken.  Ultimately the pathology confirms what was suspected – the original primary cancer is back 😠.  I have lots of thoughts and feelings to share surrounding this discovery but just need some time to process things.  Stay tuned for more blogs on that.

Thanks for reading and catching up on my life over the last 10 months!!  Just want to say thank you to all of you who have supported me and continue to help me in this fight!!  I couldn’t do it without your love and support.
