Cycle 6 is finito and the plan (for now)....

Not on the other side just yet:  The frustration and disappointment I felt upon learning that cycle 6 would most likely not be my last chemo cycle was definitely weighing on me during my cycle 5 recovery.  I was having a hard time dealing with the fact that I didn't have an "end of treatment date" and an even harder time dealing with the fact that I didn't know when Nathan and I would be getting "back to normal".  But after some time to reflect and discussions with Nathan about these feelings we came up with a new plan.  Instead of focusing on some arbitrary "end of treatment date" and "waiting to get back to normal" we are going to embrace my treatment, incorporating it into our life, and live our lives as close to normal as we can.  So over the last month we have really been trying to focus on the positive and do what we can when I am able.

Cycle 6 and the plan:  I received chemo cycle 6 on March 20th without any issues.  After a lengthy discussion with my oncologist I have agreed to try to complete 3 more cycles of my current regimen.  After those 3 cycles we will re-assess and develop a game plan from there.

Some of the fun things I've been up to since my last blog:
  • Spending time with family in that state up north😊.  The weekend before my 6th cycle of chemo we traveled up north to visit Nathan's cousins for a long weekend.  It was so great to see everyone and to spend some quality time with the family.  During this trip I developed a fondness for Peppa Pig and her accent:)
  • Food, food, and more food!!  Usually that first weekend after chemo I stay hold up in the house and don't really venture out.  But post Cycle 6 week one of recovery was different!  We had dinner out not once but twice and although I may have over done it, it was so worth it.  On the Saturday Nathan and I joined some friends for dinner.  I am truly grateful for my family and friends that continue to build me up!!  On Sunday I asked Nathan to take me to The Melting Pot (one of my favorite places) and although my tastes buds weren't 100% it was really good.  There isn't many things better than cheese and chocolate.
  • Massage and Jeni's Ice Cream make everything better!!  I started post Cycle 6 week two of recovery off right by getting a massage, dinner out with Nathan and then grabbing some Jeni's - my new fav flavor = Frose Sorbet - YUM!!
  • Celebrating an awesome Caterday carbing up at Dan's Toast Bar with Nathan before spending some time shopping for our bathroom remodel.  After being overwhelmed by all the tile choices, I think that Nathan and I have a good idea of what we want to do.
  • Wrapping up the weekend with my family celebrating Easter!!

What's up next:  Chemo cycle 7 is Tuesday April 10th.  I got this!! #chemopro
